Founder’s Day

The Mansfield Historicla Society holds Founders Day celebrations at the Fisher-Richardson House, because the house was believed to have been the site where town fathers held a meeting to organize the Norton North Precinct, which later became the Town of Mansfield. All of the land in this vicinity was part of the Taunton North Purchase of 1668. The 100 acres that included this site were designated lot number 30. The earliest description of the property that we have is from the 1723 deed, by which Isaac Wellman bought the land.
